Replication – Print spooler does not respond

Description of the problem

During the printer replication via the steadyPRINT Center we partly receive the message “print spooler does not respond” followed by the cancellation of the replication. Can you provide further assistance?

Solution

During the replication, the steadyPRINT Center restarts the print spooler several times. It happens that the start and/or termination of the spooler is not possible within the timeframe expected by the operating system – the error message described above refers to this. In case this error occurs more frequently, it may possibly be avoided by adjusting the Windows-owned timeouts.

Timeout adjustment for starting the services via registration key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control]
ServicesPipeTimeout = 30000

Timeout adjustment for terminating the services via registration key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control]
WaitToKillServiceTimeout = “20000”
