Replication – Driver was not found and needs to be downloaded
Description of the problem
We have realized that with some drivers the error message „The specified printer driver was not found on the system and needs to be downloaded“ (error 3019) is displayed during the replication via the steadyPRINT Center.
After a manual installation of the driver on the target system and the new printer replication, it works as usual. Could you provide further assistance?
For Windows, Microsoft has integrated some tightened security policies via the Windows updates. This way, a successful installation of printer drivers via the Windows API call „AddPrinterDriver“ (see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd183346(v=vs.85).aspx, August 1st, 2017), used by steadyPRINT by default, is unfortunately no longer guaranteed. As of version 7.0.1 steadyPRINT uses the API call „InstallPrinterDriverFromPackage“ (see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd144997(v=vs.85).aspx, 01.08.2017), recommended by Microsoft. For the purpose of compatibility and as a fallback, steadyPRINT still uses the API call „AddPrinterDriver“, in case „InstallPrinterDriverFromPackage“ should not be successful.
